The construction of the Belgrade-Budapest railroad is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. The new rail line will reduce the travel time between the two capitals to three hours from the current eight hours. The construction is being done by China Railway International and China Communication Construction Company. The contract to rebuild the railway is worth EUR 943m.

Serbia expressed dissatisfaction with Montenegro’s decision to deploy two officers to the KFOR mission in Kosovo. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said this is not a particularly friendly gesture towards the country he leads.

Montenegro is increasingly connected with the US, much like Serbia is with Russia. By assuming membership in NATO, Montenegro has assumed certain obligations, while it also has obligations as a country that wants to become a member of the EU.
